How's That Working Out?

Welcome back everyone, Coach Jono here and today I want to start off with Dr. Phil. I don't watch his show, but he seems like a nice enough guy.

For those of you that don’t follow Dr. Phil, one of the things he says is:

“How’s that working out for you?”

People come to him with all kinds of issues and one of the first things he says is “How's that working out for you?”

And it hit me as a good question to ask yourself. People expect a change to happen without ever trying anything new. They expect that all of a sudden one day it will all change and everything will be exactly how they dreamed. But for years and years, nothing ever changes. So you have to stop and ask yourself “how's that working out for you?” How is it working out by not doing any exercise or eating unhealthy, and having to go on all kinds of medications because you're overweight, and you can't sleep and you're stressed out and your body shuts down, maybe you need to stop and think. “How is this working out for me?” Obviously not too well, right? So you need to make adjustments and changes in your life, by starting to eat healthier and getting some exercise.

If you're working 12-15 hours a day, 120 hours a week, and you're not getting any sleep, you're family time is going to hell, and can’t exercise and its causing stress.

“How is that working out for you?” Maybe it's time you re-adjust your life. Okay, I need to obviously adjust my work to life balance because this isn’t working.

Then there's also the other extreme. You could be an all-time athlete where all you do is train 6-8 hours a day, work, sleep; and then you never have a social life, you never have any fun, you lose your friends and that's not good either!

So how is that working out for you?

Have you thought about where in your life you’re struggling and ask that question, “how is this working out for me?” If it’s obviously not working out then what do I need to do to fix it?

You may not know what you need to do. That's where coaches like myself can help. So go out and find somebody that can help you, but don't just keep doing the same thing day after day after day, and then expect it to change.

So ask yourself again, “how is that working out for me?” If it’s not working out, then take action to change it!
